FAQs

Do you sell lumber by the ‘board foot’?

Yes, for freshly milled lumber and dimensional stock. Pricing of large live edge slabs, oversize timbers, fireplace mantels, etc. varies and these products are not generally priced by the board foot.

I have trees / logs I’d like to sell, how much will you pay for them?

Usually nothing. Unless that is, they are high grade logs of desired species delivered to the sawmill, they are generally not worth anything. If they are standing trees, you will have to pay an insured professional to take them down safely, then you will have to pay for them to be removed. Logs generally only have value if they are delivered to a sawmill and they are graded according to standardized rules and the ‘Doyle Log Scale’ is applied.

Unfortunately, logs are aplenty with all the development happening in the Carolinas and arborists usually pay to dump logs in the landfill. They will currently deliver high quality logs for just a delivery fee.

Some people don’t initially believe this and insist they have “highly valuable trees / logs.” We get calls all about this all the time – please do your research; valuable yard trees are an urban legend.

If you are serious about doing the right thing and making good use of your trees, we will receive logs delivered to our mill as long as they fit within our parameters that allow it to be usable. It is best to coordinate with your tree removal company on this up front, otherwise it will likely get cut into chunks and dumped in the landfill.

I have trees / logs on my property I’d like to have milled – will you provide this service?

Yes!  If you deliver the logs to our mill. We generally do not travel to pick up logs and we do not offer portable milling on-site. We also do not cut trees down for clients; we only provide the milling service.
